Edging tools are excellent for rounding off the sharp corners that are found on the cut edges of thicker leathers. After cutting a strip to make a belt, dog collar etc, the next stage is to round off the corners using an edge tool, otherwise known as an edge shave.
This is a No2 hollow ground edge tool - a No1 tool takes off the smallest margin of leather, so this is the second size up, rounding the edges slightly more.
Hollow ground means that there is a dent in the back of the tool, which helps you to align it at the right angle on the edge of your leather strip, making this a very easy tool to get to grips with.
